  • Experts from the National Agricultural Research Institute of Uruguay Visited SHVRI2023-11-17

    Recently, Mr. Nicolas Gutierrez, Director of the International Cooperation Bureau of Uruguayan National Agricultural Research Institute, and Mr. Bruno Ferraro, R&D Director, visited SHVRI, met with Prof. Han Xuesong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of SHVRI, and Prof. Li Zejun, Deputy Director of SHVRI. Both sides had an in-depth exchanges on new technologies, new products, and future cooperation directions in the field of animal disease prevention and control, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the field of veterinary medicine and jointly addressing global challenges in animal disease prevention and control.

    Prof. Han Xuesong welcomed Mr. Gutierrez and his delegation, and stated that 2023 is the tenth anniversary of the proposal of jointly building The Belt and Road Initiative. As a natural extension of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Latin America is an indispensable and important participant in the joint construction of The Belt and Road Initiative. Uruguay is one of the important partners of The Belt and Road Initiative, and is also a partner of SHVRI to actively explore The Belt and Road Initiative. It is hoped that both sides will strengthen mutual visits and exchanges, and jointly provide intellectual and technical support for the development of veterinary industry.

    Gutierrez expressed appreciation for the achievements made by SHVRI in the field of veterinary medicine. He stated that the Uruguayan National Agricultural Research Institute attaches great importance to research in the field of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, especially the application of new technologies for inspection and quarantine of livestock and poultry diseases. He hopes that through this visit, both sides can establish a long-term and stable cooperative relationship and jointly promote the development of global animal health.

    During the visit, Mr. Gutierrez and his delegation also visited Parasite Specimen Museum of SHVRI, experimental base, and Shanghai Rural Revitalization Demonstration Base. Xing Zengtao, Director of the Agricultural Mechanization Management Department of Shanghai Agriculture and Rural Committee, Prof. Zhou Jinlin, Chief Scientist of Animal Parasite and Vector Control Team of SHVRI, Prof. Dong Hui, Scientist of Animal Parasite and Vector Control Team of SHVRI, and Prof. Jiang Yifeng, Director of Research Management and International Cooperation Division, attended the activities.
